An important feature in positive neighborhood making, the SRO can offer a dignified way for people to reestablish neighborhood roots and participation. The Mid Peninsula Housing Coalition has provided hundreds of units of affordable housing in dignified and participatory forms that help enliven neighborhoods and support the diversity of incomes served.
The St. Matthew represented an historic preservation project as well. The project resulted in a small scale mixed use building of historic significance serving a downtown that was fast reinventing itself as a desirable place to live and work.
